With any well organised wedding, you won’t even notice the preparations that go on behind the scenes, and Hertfordshire’s Milling Barn is no exception! Professional wedding DJ Mike Readings met with Wedding and Events Manager Gemma, to chat about how your evening wedding entertainment will run at Milling Barn, and to offer some tips for your wedding day.
The evening truly starts after the wedding speeches have wrapped up. When your guests will be moved either outside or to the dairy barn depending on the weather. This gives Milling Barn, and your suppliers an hour to get everything set up for you to party the night away, with the evening reception starting at 7.30 pm.
Hertfordshire Wedding DJ, Mike Readings, knows how to make your grand entrance back into the barn something to remember, ensuring your photographer will capture the moment for you to look back on for years to come. By directing all your guests to surround your wedding cake, Mike will create a walkway for you to reach your cake whilst playing your chosen song (check out playlists). After cutting your cake, your first dance will take place with Mike directing your guests to join in when ready.
During your first dance, Milling Barn will take your wedding cake away and prepare it to be served alongside your evening food at 8.30 pm. If you’re worried that the evening food could ruin the party atmosphere, don’t be, as Milling Barn have you covered. Not only will they set up a food station, but they will take food around to your guests that are busy on the dancefloor.
For those guests that don’t fancy a boogie, the diary barn is a great place to sit and chat over a cup of coffee. Whilst the mezzanine provides a fantastic escape for children, with many couples setting up a games console or Disney movies to entertain them whilst the adult’s party.
Milling Barn has two bars, meaning there should never be a large queue, even if you hit the max capacity of 250 people! Once the bars close at midnight, your immediate family that has booked one of the seven rooms available can hit the hay straight away. For your other guests, taxi’s can get them to a local hotel within 15 minutes – although make sure to book beforehand to avoid any waits!
